Elective Curriculum/Areas of Emphasis

The core curriculum is complemented by elective courses that will allow students to develop in-depth knowledge in their field of interest. Each student will select a particular area of emphasis from which at least 3 elective courses will be chosen. For students with special or interdisciplinary interests, a “General Public Health” area of emphasis may be chosen and developed with guidance from faculty advisors. The elective areas of emphasis are:

  • Epidemiology
  • Nutrition
  • Environmental and Occupational Health
  • Human and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases
  • Veterinary Public Health
  • General Public Health

Students may choose other appropriate electives in consultation with their faculty advisor. For course availability, see the campus general catalog and quarterly course listings.
