About Amy: Amy is the first in her family to pursue graduate school. She was first interested in health and medicine through her summer research fellowship at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, where she studied cardio-renal physiology. However, she quickly became interested in public health and health disparities by volunteering at a Hepatitis B walk-a-thon with Project Prevention, a nonprofit organization aimed to address issues with preventable diseases in the Hmong community. These pivotal experiences motivate her to become a physician who addresses health disparities in underrepresented communities in the San Joaquin Valley.
