About Michelle: Michelle's interests in Public Health developed when she traveled to Rwanda. Michelle was immersed into a severely underprivileged area but learned the value of community work as well as the importance of health. Through this experience Michelle became deeply passionate of the Public Health field and is now inspired to make changes in the health system. She hopes to one day start her own non-profit organization to support communities in receiving the knowledge and resources to live a healthy lifestyle, with a focus on providing clean water to underprivileged areas. Michelle has also worked as a patient advocate at Highland Hospital where she is able to support patients in getting the necessary health resources they need. Through these experiences Michelle has gained a deeper understanding of the importance of health. In the future Michelle hopes to apply to medical school.
