Larisa Figueroa Degree: BS Dental Hygiene, University of the Pacific (2007) Area of Emphasis: General Public Health Practicum: Promoting Oral Evaluations before a Child's First Birthday, First 5 Yolo, Woodland About Larisa: While attending University of the Pacific she volunteered at many facilities for special needs and low-income patients, educating them on proper oral care as well as providing free dental cleanings. She is also credited with designing a presentation for nursing students at CSU Sacramento on the relationship between periodontal disease and systemic health and the importance of oral care for hospital patients. Larisa's focus in public health will definitely fall on preventive oral care, with one of her goals being to encourage more cities to fluoridate their public water supply.
