About Mitchell: Mitchell found his interest in public health after researching walkability at UC Irvine. He had found the process of organizing a research study from grant proposal to presentation an involved challenge and wanted to continue applying what he learned in school. When Mitchell returned to San Francisco, he started coaching fencing at his former high school. There, he learned how to help teens of varying capabilities learn a complex sport in narrow time allotments. Mitchell found the work so fulfilling that he strives to enhance the public health assistance available to empower adolescents to become successful adults.
