About Maria Catrina D.: Catrina aspires to live her life according to Gandhi's saying: "Be the change you want to see in the world." With this ideology, she has been involved in the community as a mentor for adolescents and involved in various community based research and primary care studies. Currently, she is working for the UC Davis Health System as a clinical research coordinator for Dr. Halsted's study "Effects of SAMe in Patients with Alcoholic Liver Disease". In pursuing her MPH, Catrina is interested in educating vulnerable populations about HIV and substance abuse. With her emphasis in epidemiology she would like to learn more about the risk factors for HIV acquisition and substance abuse.
